Monte Marsicano

A magnificent excursion on the highest massif of the Abruzzo Park

Sunday 1 October 2023 from 08:00 to 17:00

From the Alto Sangro Valley we will reach the summit with a beautiful excursion of about 1200 meters in altitude both uphill and downhill. Right from the start, past the initial oak forest, a wide panorama opens up over the valley which then, gaining altitude, offers an all-round glance on the entire Abruzzo: Gran Sasso, Laga, Majella, Morrone, Monti della Meta, Mainarde, Serra del Re. From the ridge of the spectacular summit is the view of the glacial cirques of Valle Orsara and Valle di Corte. With a little luck we will be able to spot the large herds of deer and the beautiful nucleus of chamois that populate the prairies of the Marsicano. Even the bear often passes through those places.
